Susan Cort

JPL Director of Communications Susan Cort has been named as a Central Penn Business Journal 2021 Women of Influence honoree. For more than 15 years, Susan has led JPL’s communications and community outreach, helping the agency build a positive reputation and earn recognition as one of the Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania each year.

“The 2021 Women of Influence honorees are extremely accomplished,” said Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, group publisher of Central Penn Business Journal. “They are innovators, creators and mentors who inspire others with service to their professions and to their communities. They mentor and pave the way for future generations of women leaders. Central Penn Business Journal is pleased to honor them.”

In the community, Susan applies her talents to bring value to organizations supported by JPL. Currently, Susan serves on the Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Advisory Board, providing ongoing communications and public relations consulting. In addition, she enables JPL to provide and contribute creative, production and technical services that advance CMN’s mission.

Susan frequently mobilizes JPL team members to volunteer for a wide range of community projects, including Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, Ronald McDonald House, the Salvation Army and Big Brothers/Big Sisters. Every year, she mentors JPL interns to apply their talents to advance a local non-profit organization. With Susan’s guidance, JPL interns have developed marketing plans, websites, videos and other communications tools for organizations including Vickie’s Angel Foundation, Cocoa Packs and the Perry County Literacy Council.

In the last year, Susan has applied her prior experience as a broadcaster to producing and hosting virtual events for JPL clients, employees and community groups, including virtual

town hall meetings to promote diversity, equity and inclusion. Her experience also made her a natural fit for producing and hosting a podcast for JPL subsidiary d’Vinci Interactive, where she also leads marketing and communications.

“Susan is a model for an award called Women of Influence,” said JPL President Luke Kempski. “She applies her broad range of leadership and communications talents every day to improve our company, our industry and the community.”

In addition to her community service to support JPL, she has served in leadership roles in a number of other community organizations including The Hershey Theatre Advisory Board, The Hershey Symphony Orchestra, Hershey Area All Things Diversity, Downtown Hershey Association, Hershey Rotary Club, and the Hershey Area Playhouse, which she helped found. Susan also serves as an elected official in Derry Township.

To be eligible for the awards, candidates must live or work in the central Pennsylvania area, which includes Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry and York counties. Susan was one of 45 women honored this year.

The Central Penn Business Journal Women of Influence program honors women for their professional experience, community involvement, leadership and sustained commitment to mentoring. For more information and to see the list of other honorees, visit cpbj.com.
