Guiding Patient Care in Pennsylvania
The Pennsylvania Health Care Cost Containment Council (PHC4) is an independent state agency that provides high-quality, objective data from hospitals and patient care centers around the state. Its mission is to give every Pennsylvanian access to the cost and quality of health care, regardless of their ability to pay.
Challenge
Despite new healthcare cost transparency laws, research showed that consumers struggled to find accurate, unbiased prices. PHC4 aimed to improve its website to make it easier for healthcare consumers to use. They wanted the website to clearly show their purpose and make it easier for people in Pennsylvania to find the PHC4 reports.
Above all, the goal was to make the website a trustworthy place for people to find information about patient safety, prices and outcomes related to their healthcare decisions.
Solution
Our research showed that boomers’ use of healthcare reviews has spiked since 2019. Usage of sites like Healthgrades and Vitals has increased by 38%.1 We used this research to make a website that is easy to use, similar to an e-commerce website. The design included Pennsylvania-themed elements and simple tools for finding reports by medical topic, illness or procedure.
An AI-generated tagging system reduced time spent on website maintenance, allowing the PHC4 team to focus on creating valuable reports that improve healthcare outcomes for everyone in Pennsylvania. Successfully using cutting-edge tools encourages us to keep pushing the limits for our clients.
